AVG Antivirus Review

AVG is a reliable option for protecting against cyberattacks. It has an impressive feature suite, excellent score for malware protection and a decent price. There were some negative points, such as it being heavy on system resources, and a couple of false positives.

The interface of AVG is simple and clear design. Its dashboard lets you know whether your system is protected and allows you to run a manual scanner using its menu. You can personalize the scans and notifications. You can also black-list or white-list applications, and decide which information AVG will give to its parent company. AVG includes several extra tools like a file shredder and a do not disturb mode that prevents you from being interrupted while playing games or movies.

Its security features include firewalls, an anti-virus scanner, a password manager, and a social network security that flags suspicious links or messages. Its anti-phishing feature is outstanding and its Enhanced Firewall offers additional features such as data leakage protection and ARM Spoofing Alerts. The firewall is extremely robust when used on public networks because it makes use of machine learning to determine what is normal and what’s not and can automatically adapt.

AVG offers a variety of support options, including forums, an online community and a comprehensive Knowledge Base. You can also contact its customer service via email or by using the chat feature on its website. The free version isn’t accompanied by annoying upgrade prompts but you’ll have to navigate through pop-up ads when using the software.
